Mr. Babatunde W. Dabiri is a distinguished banker, corporate strategist, and boardroom leader with over four decades of experience spanning banking, financial services, corporate governance, and business advisory. He holds a Bachelor of Science (Honours) degree in Economics from the University of Ibadan, Nigeria, and a Master of Business Administration (MBA) from Columbia University, New York,
Group Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer of Sterling Bank Plc and previously held the positions of Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Magnum Trust Bank Plc and Fountain Trust Merchant Bank Limited. Collectively, he served as Chief Executive Officer of banks for approximately twenty years.
His banking career also includes senior leadership roles at Continental Merchant Bank Limited (formerly Chase Merchant Bank Nigeria Limited), where he served as Deputy General Manager, Head of Banking Operations and Systems, and Assistant General Manager responsible for Northern Operations. His expertise covers strategic management, financial advisory services, credit administration, corporate finance, portfolio management, risk management, banking operations, and business development.
Beyond executive management, Mr. Dabiri has made significant contributions to corporate governance through service on the boards of leading institutions. He currently serves as Chairman/Vice Chairman of Academy Press Plc, Director of Coronation Merchant Bank Limited, Director of First Marina Trust Limited, Chairman of Capetex Industries Limited, and Chairman of Lawson, Thomas & Trustees.
Mr. Babatunde W. Dabiri is equally known for his contributions to education and capacity development. He currently serves as a member of the University of Ibadan Advancement Board, a member of the Corona Trust Council, and a Trustee of the Ansar-Ud-Deen Educational Trust. His previous educational leadership roles include membership of the Lagos State University Governing Council, directorship of the University of Lagos Holding Company (UNIHOLD), trusteeship of the Lagos Business School Endowment Fund, presidency of the Lagos Business School Alumni Association, presidency of the Igbobi College Old Boys Association, and membership of the Summit University Board of Trustees.
Throughout his distinguished career, Mr. Babatunde W. Dabiri has attended numerous local and international executive development programmes, conferences, and board-level training programmes, including programmes organized by the African Development Bank, the World Bank, IMD Switzerland, IESE Spain, INSEAD France, Euromoney Dubai, American Express, and leading universities in South Africa.
